Field Notes

Description:

Fly with black patterns on wings. This just happened to be in the same area as some Lucia widow dragonflies, which have similar patterned wings (e.g. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/151826007).

Habitat:

Seasonal river in savanna/woodland.

Notes:

Observed in Mlawula Nature Reserve.

That's interesting about the wing similarity. I think this one is a bee-fly - Bombyliidae https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombyliidae
