Field Notes

Description:

It was first thing in the morning and the sun hadn't come up yet, but I had never seen a woodpecker sitting on a telephone wire so I had to take a few photos. Gray belly with a black and white striped back. Orange patch on the back of the head, red patch on top, and gold patch at the base of the bill.

Habitat:

In the open field near our bunkhouses, surrounded by thorn scrub habitat.
