Eastern Cottontail rabbit [baby]

This is most likely an Eastern Cottontail baby. I hope that this little one was returned to where you found it. Cottontails do not do well in captivity and have a tendency to die suddenly from stress, even when they appear fine. Mother rabbits only visit the babies around dawn and dusk and only for a few minutes. They do not stay near the nest to avoid drawing predators to it. The best thing you can do for this baby is to return it to where you found it (as long as it is a safe place). This one is almost ready to leave the nest but not quite old enough to be weaned.
