Description:

Polyporus melanopus? white on the inside (pics to come). The tops of the caps are finely hairy (ciliate?). Growing on a rotting, mossy log. Log was probably deciduous since in a deciduous wood on a pile of logs that looked like they were introduced to the woodland to introduce fungi and provide habitat P. ciliatus: http://www.rogersmushrooms.com/gallery/DisplayBlock~bid~6672~source~gal… nbn gateway shows it's occasional to frequent in the UK: http://data.nbn.org.uk/interactive/map.jsp?srchSp=NHMSYS0001494455
