Field Notes

Description:

Small round mushroom approximately 1" across. Flesh toned center with a brown trim. Growing on a fallen oak branch. Sturdy but pliable to the touch. Edges are very thin while center is thick and fleshy. Firmly attached to fallen oak branch.

Habitat:

Garth Woods, Eastchester, NY. Early spring

Notes:

Found on fallen oak tree in early spring.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not an expert at all, but the mushroom top is concave and the pics of p. lepto look to be convex.
this might be something like Polyporus leptocephalus
