Field Notes

Description:

Large spider with yellow and black on legs. End of body red, main abdomen black and white patterned.

Habitat:

I've seen this type of spider all around Georgia and Florida, between trees or large shrubs. They are more common in dense vegetation but I've seen them in flatwoods, hardwood forests and xeric sandhill habitat.

You're welcome! They're pretty common in Florida, so the next time you come across one look at the web to see if you can spot a tiny male!
