Merops leschenaulti
5.46675, 100.29
Field Notes
Description:
Returning to roost for the night. They start coming back about an hour or so before sunset in ones, twos or small groups and gather in the high tree. Over 50 in pic 1 and that is just a small part of the tree. Some of them fly up again and circle in large groups, perhaps feeding. Then as dusk approaches they all start coming to the roosting bush in ones and twos. All this time they are making a lot of noise but they quieten down after it gets dark.
Habitat:
Trees/bushes for roosting
Notes:
To give an idea of the height of the tree in pic 1, we were on the 17th floor! There must have been several hundred birds in it.
