Field Notes

Description:

The European robin has a distinctive red breast which originally gave it the name redbreast (and is incidentally what it is still called in Norwegian - Rødstrupe). The rest of the bird is white (underparts) and grey/brown (back and wings).

Habitat:

A ground-dwelling insectivorous passerine. Spotted in my garden.

Notes:

It was wonderful coming back to Norway, finding all the winter migrants have started to return - and are in full breeding plumage :)
