Field Notes

Description:

Brown streaked back, gray belly, and black and white streaked head. Got to mist nest for the first time and getting to hold a bird was really exciting :)

Habitat:

Mostly mixed grass prairie with quite a bit of juniper.

Notes:

We caught about 10 white-crowned sparrows and 1 lark sparrow. I wanted to get the lark sparrow out, and I did actually untangle him from the net, but as soon as I got him out of the net he started thrashing around and I accidentally let go of him :/ So I got this white-crowned sparrow out afterwards, and he cooperated better. Will get to mist net more this summer, so excited!
