Field Notes

Description:

In this area white-faced ibis are more common that glossy ibis and that they can be hard to tell apart, but supposedly the reddish legs are an indicator of white-faced ibis.

Habitat:

A grassy area on Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge that is mowed often. Last night there was 1-2 inches of rain and made for conditions that at least two dozen ibis found an abundance of food and have been feeding in the area all day. Usually ibis aren't seen on this grassy area but on ponds and marsh nearby.
