Field Notes

Habitat:

Found nocturnally hanging from a silk thread from a Leptospermum petersonii or Lemon Scented Tea Tree beside an oval in a wooded area with complex grasslands.

Notes:

# looper moth petersonii march 14. http://bie.ala.org.au/species/Lemon+scented+Tea+tree.
The looper has been in a container for a night and a day and seems comfortable with the tea tree foliage taken from the tree it was found in. Have to get a better container (last image). The looper will be kept until it matures to adult if it does so it can be identified. The pupae hatched on 27 Jan 2015 at 3am and notes are on the following page http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1203666005

I still have it. 8cm long and while it is the same palette of colours they are in different places. Its head is smaller in reference to its body as well. Like a puppy. I am keeping a photo journal and will make another entry if I can get it to maturity
Maybe subfamily Ennominae - http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_loopers/ENNOMINAE.htm
