Field Notes

Description:

Pale yellow agaric mushrooms. Caps covered with scales. Long stipes with fine scales and ring. Fine gills, pale and closely spaced.

Habitat:

My backyard. Growing in the soil of a pot plant which contains a Grevillea. Soil would be native plant mix. It's very humid at present after a week of heavy rain.

Notes:

I've not seen fungi like this in my yard before. I'll keep an eye on them over the next few days to see how the develop. Day 2 and the caps have spread, some very flat with edges curling upwards exposing the gills. Fine yellow scales have become dark and crusty. Gills fine, mostly white.

Thanks for the ID, Randy. I reckon it's spot-on :-)
Thanks, Mark. Will check on them daily. I feel really guilty about uprooting and manhandling them, as it were. I want them to live long and happy mushroom lives. I'm such a softy. I love their colour.
Looking forward to your updates. Not coprinellus (ring on stipe) - that plus partial veil remnants on cap suggests an agaric sp. to me. Gills tomorrow :-)
