Field Notes

Description:

Off white with a pinkish sheen on both the stem and the cap. Underside of the cap and gills are off-white to cream. Soft dry velvety mushroom with a mushroom scent.

Habitat:

Beneath gum tree, possibly smooth barked Angophora or Red Gum, in remnant woodland with depleted soils. Amidst the leaf litter

Notes:

Fungi are not common along the harsh soils of Dog Scat Ridge but the few found and photographed so far have the same colouration and general structure

Jemma were you nudging me towards "Penny Bun" as a possible ID?
Had to look up Penny Bun. Boletus sp. They are introduced here. It does look a lot like that Jemma
looks something like a" penny bun"
