Description:
The Bald Eagle is the United State's national bird. These birds, despite their name are not "bald" but have a white head and tail, which distinguishes them from other large birds at high altitudes. Young bald eagles however do not have these white feathers and they develop as they mature.
Habitat:
Along lakes and rivers where they can find fish to eat and trees to nest in.
Notes:
Recently, I have had the pleasure of having a large amount of eagles to come to my lake which I live nearby. On the day I took these pictures of this mature eagle I counted over 40 other eagles on the ice and flying around. Normally I have seen many juvenile eagles and one or two mature ones nearby. I have jokingly thought of this as the mature eagles as being the supervisors of the teenage/ juvenile eagles.
