Don't get me wrong, I wish I could experience every kind of living thing in its' natural state, but some of us can't afford it.

Thought I'd throw in my two cents. I'm in the same boat as James in that I do a fair amount of captive shots, of both plants and animals. If there was another site where the emphasis was on the species, rather than on the photography and/or the "wildness", and the quality was as good, I would post there. It seems like there should be room for both here, as long as there's no confusion as to whether an organism was observed in its natural state or not. But I'd be interested to know if there are actual drawbacks to having the captive organisms on here.
I have read this and as stated I do submit many wildlife shots. I simply feel that these images are enjoyable for nature lovers as I enjoy ALL images posted by other members. I shall continue to post "within the rules". If and when these change I shall certainly comply with such changes. Thank you for the interest and advice.
We most certainly enjoy your spottings and they are allowed. I have some captive spottings as well. Here's what the FAQ's say "Can I submit pet and zoo animal photos? Although we technically do accept pet photos, it is not our focus. The reason why we created a pet category is because many users share pet photos when they are getting familiar with our website or experimenting with our mobile apps and we wanted to give our users some time to get comfortable and see what our community is all about. Once settled in, we ask that you focus your sights and your cameras on true wildlife."
Sorry Cindy, I was under the impression that captive animals were allowed. Some folks are lucky enough to be able to travel the world to see these creatures I am not. I do post many wild images too. But I believe some of my images of captive creatures are enjoyed by other PN members
Hi James, you have certainly documented a lot of animals from the zoo. We look forward to your wildlife spottings :)
