Description:

Young Great-horned owls will be covered with down and will not have their ear tufts until they near maturity. The area around the eyes have less down and I believe it's so they can see better. At about six weeks they may get out on the branches to build leg muscles. This nest has been used for many years by the Owl pair.

Habitat:

This one is found in a mixed forest in a tall pine tree.

Notes:

Last picture is the mom

There is actually two and the mom in the nest but this one was the only one curious at the time I was there. This tree is very high.
