Ants

This photo needs some explanation:
First I saw a ant-house with red ants but also some red and black ants with wings (Photo #2). Later, about 200 yards away I found a rock with dozens of clusters of red and black ants and just red ants, both with wings. My first thought was they were killing each other but in and second thought I believe they were just mating. Some were just one on one but in others it was 3 or four. So, what is it love or war?
