Field Notes

Description:

Grey and furry, ear shaped fungi spread up the trunk. Image three is underside and I did not see the lacewing until the image was on the computer. The fungi feel like velvet over rice-crackers and I did not notice a scent

Habitat:

Quite an old spray of fungi living on a Casuarina or She-oak by suburban yards in a wood and surrounded by a grove of young saplings so I guess this was the mother tree. I cannot tell which species of Casuarina

Weird, I thought it was some sort of animal at first.
