Field Notes

Description:

spotted in my backyard migrating thru Houston, Texas. It took a break in my backyard right before the big storm hits.
food: insects

Habitat:

•Breeds in all woodland types in the East.
•Winters in partially cleared shrubby habitats and secondary forests.

Notes:

•One potential cause of the decline of Eastern Wood-Pewee populations is the overpopulation of white-tailed deer in the Eastern forests. In areas with high deer density, the intermediate canopy is disturbed by browsing, affecting the foraging space of the flycatcher.

Thanks Tom...this one I think is hanging out for the storm to pass before heading north, I noticed once the storm is gone, it is gone too.
Great shot! These birds are usually high up in trees in the middle of a forest.
