Northern Green Jumping Spider (female)

At a length of up to 12 mm (female), this is one of Australia's larger jumping spiders. These spiders, the Salticids, are easily recognized by their eyes pattern. Their front pair of eyes are very large with another three pair of smaller eyes on thorax. They have very good eyesight and are active during the day. The arrangement of four pairs of eyes makes their vision cover virtually 360 degree. This female was a beautiful shade of green, very similar to the colour of the plant she was on. Her body was quite translucent. Not toxic to human, but this species is known to give a painful bite.
