Field Notes

Description:

I was returning home on a trail in the middle of an urban jungle and I spotted this bird. At last photo, the bird "stretched" the neck when I photographed and flew away, so I could not take more pictures.

Habitat:

I found this specimen on a little river, near a Bamboo Groove, in a region of transition between the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest.

Notes:

In Brazil, it is also known as "Taiaçu"; from Tupi, "tai = scratched" and "açu = big".
