Field Notes

Description:

Large, brown, banded shell (approx. 5cm in diameter), grey speckled body.

Habitat:

Logs and rocks in rainforest, closed woodland and in some suburban areas that are adjacent to wet forest patches (like our backyard). These snails occur from around the Clarence River region in northern New South Wales northwards to about Gympie in south-eastern Queensland.

Notes:

My husband found this large snail in our backyard. It was in the middle of the yard in full sun so we relocated it into a damp area of the garden.
