Field Notes

Description:

In the lower right the queen bee can be seen surrounded by worker bees as she lays eggs in the cells of their honey comb.

Notes:

This hive is indoors and has glass on either side. It is part of an educational display. Because of concern that the bees might leave the hive and build elsewhere (which has happened in the past) due to a late spring they are currently receiving honey supplements.
