Description:
Dark body with stripes near the end of the abdomen, wings with bands of spots in white to pale yellow, and red-orange, with dark outlines.
Habitat:
Coastal chaparral, meadows, fields, foothills, open woods, alpine fellfields
Notes:
There was a road cut full of wet gravel where several varieties of butterflies and bees were drinking.
