Field Notes

Description:

About 14 inches in length, blackish head and neck and a brownish forehead. There are some white sreakes below the wing.

Habitat:

Lakes, marshes, placid rivers and ponds. Enjoys tall reeds and grasses for cover. Saw this one in a small lake in Texas.
