Thanks for joining the Galapagos Biodiversity Mission, Beatrice! This is a Scarabaeid beetle, probably genus Cotinis. In some parts of the world it is eaten when it occurs in greater numbers. - Since you did not this spot it on Galapagos, coiuld you remove it from this mission? Thanks!
This is a chafer beetle, a member of the Scarabaeidae. I do not know the species in your area, but hope this narrows your search. :)
