Great Crested Flycatcher
Myiarchus crinitus
28.8837, -81.3462
Field Notes
Description:
A treetop hunter of deciduous forests and suburban areas, the Great Crested Flycatcher is easier to hear than to see. The only eastern flycatcher that nests in cavities, it often includes snakeskin in the nest lining.
Habitat:
Pine Flatwoods
Notes:
Its summer and they are back building a nest in the new nest box we set up. The last nest box had to be taken down because the tree was removed before it had a chance to fall on the house, since it was dead.
