Field Notes

Description:

Perennial herb forming a basal rosette pressed against the ground. Plants die back in summer, regenerating in autumn.

Habitat:

Swamps and other permanently wet patches in heath or forest, on sandy soils. Often found on the side of walking tracks or roads where water accumulates after rain.
