Thanks, I believe I found the specimen native to my area.

It's some sort of lycopod. Looks like the shining club moss that grows in my neck of the woods (Huperzia lucidula):http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huperzia_lucidula I'm guessing it's a closely related plant.
