Field Notes

Description:

Domestic Muscovy Duck skeleton.
First image shows piece of the pelvis, second show the rest of the pelvis with caudal vertebra still articulated. The third image shows the shoulder girdle and half a wing; the fulcra/wishbone, the coracoid with the scapula articulated, underneath the ulna and radius, and to the right the humerus. The fourth image shows the caprometacarpus. The fifth picture shows the sternum. The sixth picture shows the second wing.

Habitat:

Canal by the side of a road. Road leads to a residential area and is right by a small commercial area that gets a lot of foot traffic from the near by housing, but is nonetheless plagued by lots of roadkill.

Notes:

Probably road kill. Judging by the coracoid having a plant growing through it, the duck has been there for awhile.
