Description:

A type of palm that was blooming.

Habitat:

Gulf Park Oak Ridge Trail. This trail is part of Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trails, Gulf State Park, Alabama The trails run along marshes, secondary sand dunes, swamps, over creeks.

Gerardo, thank you for the suggestion. I looked it up, but the bloom was much bigger and fluffier. While looking at your suggestion I ran across Saw Palmetto, which is through out the panhandle of Florida and this area. The bloom matches, so I believe it is correct. :)
