Field Notes

Description:

There were dozens of these Housemartins skimming the surface of the marshes for insects along with some sand martins. They are a summer visitor to Britain and are told apart from others by their white rumps. These birds fly so fast and very rarely stop anywhere to get a closer photo.

Habitat:

seen at the Piper marsh in potteric carr, owned by the Yorkshire wildlife trust.
