Field Notes

Description:

For an ages I tried to find this bird in Java, in wild. But I couldn't. Untill last year I found it, when I was canoeing early morning in Cigenter River in Ujung Kulon National Park - Indonesia. It is a big bird, about 110 cm, black and white hornbill with large yellow and red bill and casque, and diagnostic white tail with broad black band. Head, back wings and breast are black, belly and thights are white. In the female the eyes is white to blue, and red in the male.

Habitat:

In the forest, by the river, on the fruity tree.

Notes:

This is the biggest Hornbill in Java.
