@Forest, thx for moving :-) I'm a newbie here :-) The nearest pics are "Acherontia_Atropos" called "Death's-head Hawk moth" and in german it's called "Totenkopfschwärmer"... See: http://www.lepiforum.de/cgi-bin/lepiwiki.pl?Acherontia_Atropos
Neat find! It's often difficult to identify a species from a pupa. I think it's safe to say that it's a Moth. You could try to raise it and see what hatches out. This should be moved to the "Arthropods" section.
