Field Notes

Description:

A small leaf beetle in the subfamily cryptocephalinae.
They have a 'hidden' head because it is oriented downwards.
This specimen has ribbed elytra and a thick brown band.
Dimorphism is known in this group so the second specimen is presumably the female.

Habitat:

A large red box in a local habitat reserve. Eucalyptus polyanthemos http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eucalyptus_polyanthemos
