Description:
Very low growing plant. Small, bright yellow flowers, usually with 5 petals (I found one with 6, see picture #2). Palmately 5-parted leaves, deeply toothed. Silvery hair on leaves and stems.
Habitat:
Grassy area near a river in Connetquot State Park, New York. Grows in poor quality soil conditions. (the soil in most of Long Island is sandy)
Notes:
Native to North America. Often mistaken for Buttercups.
