Field Notes

Description:

Very small, delicate spider. Long, thin legs. Abdomen black, white and yellow patterning. Web dome shaped. Males have enlarged, bulbous pedipalps (see pictures 5 and 6).

Habitat:

Woodlands. Webs mostly built on the sides of logs and stumps as well as some in the shrubs. Connetquot State Park, New York.

Notes:

These small spiders were everywhere! Easy to identify by the shape of the web.
