Description:

early dog violets are best seen beween March and June and are one of the first forest flowers to emerge. A very pretty shade of purple but not fragrant. flowers are about 12-18mm.

Habitat:

seen at the side of the riverbank at Potteric Carr, owned by Yorkshire wildlife trust.
