Field Notes

Description:

Smallish ( 20 cm ), brown and white, short billed, restless wader. Upperparts brown, flight feathers blackish, underparts white with a brown - grey patch on side of the breast. In flight white wing bar, lack of white rump and white barred outer tail feathers are distinctive.

Habitat:

Coastal mud- flats, sandy bars to upland paddy fields, up to 1500m. Along the streams and river side.

Notes:

Very common wider in Java.
