Field Notes

Description:

A perennial flower that is either yellow or white with a yellow (or orange) trumpet also known as the corona. Has long narrow pointed leaves and has a total of six petals. They grow from bulbs.

Habitat:

Planted in wild gardens, open woodlands, borders,in front of shrubs, under trees or in beds. Sometimes in rock gardens if planted in smaller varieties.

Notes:

This is one of my favorite flower, not only because it is beautiful, but it is a reminder that after a long, cold winter, spring is right around the corner. There is a greek story behind its scientific name, Narcissus.
