Field Notes

Description:

Black and tan bee, body length approx 20mm. It was spotted hovering around the flowers. It would grab on with its mandibles and its abdomen would go to at right angles to its body. (does anyone know what it was doing?)

Habitat:

Open grassland at James Cook University, Cairns QLD
