Field Notes

Description:

About 25 to 30 cm tall herbaceous plant, with green elongated leaves bearing no spots. Produces dark rose flowers with long spurs; on a reddish stem.

Habitat:

One of the most "discreetly-spectacular" features of Jura mountain range in springtime are these little discreet jewels, (not just this species but terrestrial orchids in general) orchids - I have no idea how many species we can count here, but they are many... This one, I saw for the first time in my life, growing in a shade of thorny bushes in montane pastures i hills of Geneva lake valley.
