Field Notes

Description:

Shelf fungus. Individual round plates growing in small colonies. Dark brown and grey rings in center, with cream trim. Firm and fleshy to the touch. Firm grip on fallen oak trunk.

Habitat:

Garth Woods, Eastchester, NY. Oak Tulip tree forest. Early spring.
