Field Notes

Description:

The tiny ruby-throats are about 7–9 cm long and weighs about 3 g. Adults are metallic green above and an off-white white below. Bills are long, straight and slender. Males have the ruby throat patch. Females are not as colorful and don't have the throat patch.

Habitat:

Deciduous, mixed and pine forests and along forest edges and in groves.
