Description:

large butterfly, about 3 in

Habitat:

cloudforest, 2200m

Notes:

I spotted this in the late afternoon resting on a tree in Chicaque natural park. The light was very low and I had to use my ringlight to get a bright shot of this.

Thanks bayucca and Mona. I had no idea this was a type of morpho, cool!
Nymphalidae, Morphinae, Antirrhea geyron. Can't say which subspecies, the specimens are too dark. Nice one! You might not believe that this is belonging to the Morphinae, but the size is impressive!
