Field Notes

Description:

The carapace is domed and a uniform brown color, and the plastron is a pale yellow color. This is a male coming to maturity, you can tell by the red and white spots on the arms and neck, and the eyes are starting to turn red. Adult males have bright red eyes.

Habitat:

Found in the central/eastern US in grasslands. This guy was found crossing the road.
