Field Notes
Description:
Five black lateral stripes on back with two white stripes. Three stripes above, through, and below each eye. Tail about as long as the body, the end slightly tufted (compared to the rest of the tail).
Habitat:
Found on the ridge of Kamiak Butte in eastern Washington. The south side of the butte is steppe and the north side is predominately Ponderosa Pine, Larch, and other conifer trees.
Notes:
I believe this is a yellow-pine chipmunk (Neotamias amoneus), but I'm not sure.
