Field Notes

Notes:

There were many white butterflies in my garden in Uttarkashi. I was never quite sure how many different kinds there were, although 1 lot were smaller and flew close to the ground, and these were larger.
Please let me know if I have mixed up the different types, here.

thanks Nuwan, think we've got the ID right...
thanks bayucca. That's interesting about the L-shaped black edges.
I think it is Pieris brassicae. In my eyes, Canidia would have more "edged/spiky" black margin compared to Brassicae. There is quite clear "L-shaped" patch.
I am also very confused by all these white butterflies. This group was larger than following spotting. Wondering about: Pieris brassicae nepalensis. They were feeding on flowers on bushes, while the next group stayed low to the ground and were much smaller.
i'm not sure which one! Asian Cabbage White - http://ifoundbutterflies.org/75-pieris/pieris-canidia Large Cabbage White - http://ifoundbutterflies.org/75-pieris/pieris-brassicae
