Field Notes

Description:

These lizards are 16-28 cm (6.5-11 in) in length with a long tail that is about three times the length of the body length. Above is brown or green/brown with seven light stripes that run from head to hips. Some individuals have light colored spots on the sides between stripes. The tail is pinkish. Males have a red throat, blue belly, and black/blue on the chest. Females have a pink throat and white below.

Habitat:

Usually found in semi-arid areas but near water.

Hi Gordon. Of the three such species that fall within range from the website you used, namely the whiptails Aspidoscelis gularis. A. sexlineata and A. laredoensis, I also think your spotting most resembles A. gularis...
