Field Notes

Description:

Yellow and black female adult spittle bug. The front has horizontal stripes. The back has a false eye. The legs are striped. The male can be seen at my other spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/23968021 and the nymph at: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7440098

Habitat:

Goldenbush plant in native garden.

Notes:

"The froghopper can accelerate at 4,000 m/s2 over 2mm as it jumps (experiencing over 400 gs of acceleration). Spittlebugs can jump 100 times their length.
